On October 9th, a group of BAWP teachers, artists and scientists met at Chabot Space & Science Center to explore Transdisciplinary Teaching and Learning, looking at the intersection of art and science. What are the metaphors that guide creative thinking across disciplines? How do the artistic mind, and the scientific mind understand the world and its dimensions? Keynote speakers Dr. Larry Horvath (Science Education, SFSU) and Dr. Julia Marshall (Art, SFSU) provided us with a conceptual framework our inquiry.
BAWP will be applying for an Intersections NASA-funded grant along with Chabot Space and Science Center later this year. Please contact BAWP Director Greta Vollmer if you’d like to be informed of upcoming activities.
